A Former President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Dr Samuel Nzekwe, has commended the Federal Government for reopening four additional border posts across the country.
Nzekwe gave the commendation in an interview in Ota, Ogun, on Sunday.
The former ANAN president said that the reopening of the border posts had been long overdue.
He said the reopening of the borders was the right step in the right direction as it would give the opportunity to businesses, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that were affected by the closure of the borders.
“The official reopening of the nation’s borders would impact positively on Small and Medium Enterprises as they would now be able to buy and export their goods across African countries.
“In addition, more revenue would be generated for the country through appropriate payment of duties as West Africa countries bring their goods into the country,” he said.

Nzekwe said manufacturers, who manufactured locally would now go back to work and business, saying that this would create economic activities in the country.
He emphasised the need for orientation by retraining the Customs personnel so that illegal activities could be effectively checked.
The Federal Government, through a circular by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday, reopened the Idiroko border post in Ogun; Jibiya norder post in Katsina State; Kamba border post in Kebbi; and Ikom border post in Cross River.
