JTF, Oil Stakeholders Agree To Stamp Out Illegal Deals

Security agencies and stakeholders in the oil sector in Rivers have assured of their readiness to stamp out illegal oil deals in the state.
This was contained in a communiqué issued on Wednesday at the end of a meeting of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) and oil stakeholders in Port Harcourt.
The communiqué was signed by Brig-Gen. Tukur Buratai, Commander, 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt and representatives of stakeholders in the oil sector.

The security agencies and the stakeholders agreed to work in synergy to ensure that oil theft became a thing of the past.
The communiqué further stated that the oil marketers in the state had agreed to ensure a steady availability of petroleum products.
“The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, through its representatives, agreed that its members will ensure an uninterrupted supply of the product.
“It was further agreed that the bodies should jointly fight the issues of oil bunkering, adulteration and illegal refining of petroleum products, ‘’ the communiqué stated.
It also said the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR) had agreed to set up a laboratory for analysis of the product.
It said that it was also agreed that tanker drivers would not be detained unnecessarily in the process of investigating the genuineness of the products.
