The new Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Mr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima has officially assumed duties. This is even as he has expressed readiness for teamwork and collaborative leadership.

In an official statement signed by NSC Deputy Director, Public Relations, Mrs Rakiya Dhikru-Yagboyaju, she noted that Mr Ukeyima during his inaugural address on Wednesday at the Council’s Headquarters in Lagos, expressed his eagerness to hit the ground running highlighting his commitment to fostering a spirit of teamwork for the realization of the Council’s mandate, particularly within the context of the Marine and Blue Economy.

Mr. Ukeyima underscored the integral role of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council in advancing the agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, in the realm of Marine and Blue Economy.

He emphasized the importance of diversifying the nation’s economy away from over-reliance on oil revenues and commended the Federal Government’s bold and pragmatic step in creating the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. This move, he noted, significantly amplifies the Council’s responsibilities.

Mr Ukeyima acknowledged the expertise and experience of the Council’s staff, describing them as highly knowledgeable and well-equipped for the tasks ahead.

He pledged to lead as a servant leader and assured that his tenure would reward hard work and commitment. He affirmed, “Sometimes we don’t appreciate knowledge, but moving forward, we will reward hard work.”

The new NSC boss expressed his gratitude to the Council’s management and staff for the warm reception extended to him as he takes on this pivotal role.
