Executive chairman of ENL Consortium Limited, Mrs. Vicky Hastrup has commended the move by the Council for the Regulation in Nigeria (CRFFN) to rid Nigeria ports of quack freight forwaders.
The ENL boss gave the commendation last week when registrar of the CRFFN; Sir Mike Jukwe paid a courtesy visit on the terminal operator in Lagos.

Hastrup stressed that lack of discipline in the freight forwarding sub sector has been of the banes of the maritime sector, adding with the enforcement unit of the council in place, it will be easy toaddress abnormalities in the sector.
The ENL boss who also doubles as the Chairman Seaports Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) charged the council to rid the ports of touts, even as she added that members of STOAN is in support of the ongoing enforcement process.
She noted that the freight forwarding sector needs to be sensitized because according to her, some of the practitioners lack knowledge of the profession.
He assured members of CRFFN of maximum cooperation, saying her organisation is poised to render any assistance to make it succeed.
"I am one person that has spoken at every stakeholder meeting that I have attended that there has to be some sanity the industry". "One of the major problems that militate against the industry is the lack of discipline and this is the only industry a tout can come up and claim to be a freight forwarder", she stressed.
According to her, “we have seen series of instances whereby they do all sorts of illegalities at our terminal and they rip- off their customers with forged documents and letterheads".
He added that there should be a benchmark to address who a qualified freight forwarder is, pointing out that an illiterate is not expected to go to the ports to carry out any transaction.
"There must be standard and there must be sanity, discipline and above all people that can express themselves"

She said with the CRFFN enforcement team in place, there is hope for the maritime industry and Nigeria in general.
According of her, ridding quacks from the industry will make the government to earn more revenue and the ports will be more friendly for business to thrive.
Earlier in his remark, Registrar of the Council; Sir, Mike Jukwe said that the visit was to seek cooperation from the terminal operator.
Jukwe noted that with the disciplinary committee in place, the era of touting at the ports will be a thing of the past.
