Mr Muhammad Shuaibu, the Area Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, on Thursday in Idiroko, decorated the 60 newly-promoted officers of the command.

Speaking at the occasion, Shuaibu advised the newly-promoted officers to equip themselves with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to excel and achieve the core mandates of the service.

He said that the elevation of the officers was a testament to their past achievements, adding that it was an encouragement to do more, as they wear their new ranks.

While congratulating the officers, the area comptroller urged them to be conscious that their promotion was in recognition of their professionalism, dedication and outstanding performance.

He said that the promotion was also a reflection of the service’s confidence in their abilities to take on greater responsibilities and deliver even more in their respective roles.

“Today, we are gathered not only to celebrate these well-deserved promotions but also to acknowledge the hard work, commitment and resilience of our officers who have consistently upheld the values and objectives of the NCS.

“Also, I want to urge you all to remain dedicated to the core mandates of the NCS of revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations and trade facilitation which are critical to the economic growth and security of the country,” he said.

Shuiabu also urged them to ensure that their conducts always reflect the core values of the NCS, including integrity, diligence and patriotism.

He enjoined those who were not promoted not to be discouraged, saying that they should rather remain committed and hardworking.

“Your own time will surely come,” the comptroller assured.

One of the newly-promoted officers, Chief Superintendent of Customs A. Idris, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked God and the NCS management for the trust reposed in them.

Idris assured that they would be hard working and do everything within their capacities to achieve the core mandate of the service.
