The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Maritime Command, Mrs Rhoda Olofu, has felicitated Muslims on their Eid -el-Fitr celebration, urging Commissioners of Police and other officers deployed to maritime to secure it.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Rowland Ehinmode, on Wednesday in Lagos.
The AIG appealed to all Muslims to remember the teachings, sacrifices, love and other virtues that Ramadan represented.
Olofu urged them to collaborate with security agencies operating in riverine areas to ensure a safe, peaceful and secure environment.
She directed commissioners of police, Eastern Ports Command and Western Ports Command, National Inland Waterways Police, and the Force Marine Officer, to increase deployment of police assets to their areas of responsibility.
The AIG directed regular and intensified visibility patrols that would further guarantee security and protection of the maritime space during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
