• Inaugurates Tin Can Chapter Executives, Others
The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) yesterday inaugurated newly- elected officers into its Tin Can Island Chapter, Idiroko and Ikorodu chapters respectively.
The officers were sworn in by the National President of the association; Prince Olayiwola Shittu assisted by the legal adviser to the association, Barrister Chekube Osonwa.
While presenting the Certificates of Return to the newly-elected officers, Prince Shittu charged them to always protect the interest of the association in their respective chapters and not to see themselves as superior to the past executives and elders of the association.
Shittu also assured that the association will remain focused in pursuing its goals and objectives despite the distractions that has arisen as a fall out of the Tin Can chapter elections.
Speaking further, Shittu charged them to work together with other sister associations at their chapters even as he cautioned against bringing disrepute to the association.
"I challenge all of you, now that you have won, you don't have an opponent again, everybody in your chapter belongs to you"
"I congratulate all of you, please exhibit your magnanimity towards those you perceived did not support you, today it’s your turn, tomorrow it will be somebody's turn, so take everybody along, don't react to provocation because time is the healer of wounds, people continue to keep malice until they know that there is nothing they can do than to be on the same page", he charged the new executives.
Directing his rage at Tin Can chapter, he said: "I want to appeal to you, most especially the executives at Tin Can, for the first time in history, some people have decided to pee in the bedroom they are going to sleep, yes we might not be perfect, but there is no school for us to go and learn how to be president of ANLCA, you have to be there to learn, so if we are wrong, approach us and tell us where we are wrong, but then everyone has a right".
"Today I am president, tomorrow it could be anyone, we need to sustain it and make it relevant for anybody to aspire to become president", he added.
He however stressed that the association is not afraid of going to court should the need arise, but that it will not take issues on a personal level, "because that is what they have been provoking us to do but we shall remain focus".
"We are not discouraged, all we have to do is to be focused, distractions can come from within, but this should not delude us from what we are doing" Shittu stated.
Also speaking, the vice chairman of the ANLCA’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Aare Sani Shittu charged those who have lost in the election to be gallant, while winners should be magnanimous in their victory.
He charged the new executives to embrace those that have lost because ANLCA is greater than any personal interests.
Responding, the new Chairman of Tin Can Chapter; Prince Kayode Oyinlola promised that the new executive will always work to represent the interest of the association.
"This executive is promising not to owe the national, because we know what happened to the last executives, but we promise to pay our dues as at when due" he assured.
