Following the matching order that was issued last week by the Federal Ministry of Works to automobile sellers around the Berger axis of the Apapa-Oshodi expressway to remove their vehicles from the expressway or risk confiscation, the operators along the axis have given assurances that they cannot disobey the federal and state government orders, saying that displaying vehicles on the expressway is naturally against the rules and regulations governing the park.

Some of the dealers who spoke with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos said that it is wrong on the part of any car dealer to display vehicles along the expressway even as they support the government to apprehend any dealers found wanting to the order.
Director of Sunrise Motor Dealers Association, Pastor Andrew Uzor explained that the dealers have been sensitized on how to display their vehicles at each parks along the expressway adding that it is difficult to find any dealer disobeying the order, especially on roads constructed by the government.
Uzor affirmed that vehicles displayed outside the park of any garage along the Apapa-Oshodi expressway are not usually patronized.
‘’It is unlawful for any automobile dealer to park or display any vehicles for sale on the expressway where we all know that traffic is a huge problem on this route and with the ongoing construction it is not right to display vehicles on the road’’.
‘’With our relationship with the Lagos state government and the federal government, no dealer can display vehicles on the expressway because they have been enlightened on how to park their vehicles within the parks’’.
‘’Any dealer or person who displays vehicles for sale on the expressway should receive express punishment by the government because we all know it is an offence to the government’’, Uzor added.
He also took our correspondent round the park to observe how vehicles are been displayed pointing out the level of compliance by dealers at the sunrise park to the government.
The director sounded a note of warning to dealers who are in the habit of displaying vehicles to desist from it as it is against government instructions.
Uzor recalled that delegates of ministry for works led by Mr. Godwin Eke had earlier visited the park  as  part of their inspection and assessment of the road construction, and commendations were made on the level of compliance by dealers in that axis.
He urged the construction companies along the road to hasten up with the work as it is causing traffic gridlock on the roads which lead to the nation’s seaports.
In a similar reaction, a dealer at the Berger end of the expressway, Mr. Olive Madu also revealed that dealers in their premises have been enlightened on how to display vehicles.
He noted that dealers along the axis understand how to display vehicles for sale and since the commencement of the road construction, there has never been any form of misunderstanding between the auto dealers and the engineers at the construction site.
