Chapter Election: ANLCA Tin Can Chapter Members Threatens To Form Parallel Government, If…..   

Even as elections into the Tin Can Island Chapter of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) draw near, some frontline members of the chapter have threatened to form a parallel government if the Association’s Electoral Commission (ASECO) disqualifies any candidate who is qualified to contest. 
‎The warning was issued last week at the flagging- off of the campaign rally of one of the aspirants, Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye by the former Zonal Coordinator West of ANLCA, Prince Ozo Chukwura.
This is even as the aspirant, Ojo Akintoye assured members of the chapter that he was ready to go any length in fighting their course, including sleeping in the police cell.
‎Prince Chukwura warned that elders in the association will not accept disqualification of qualified candidates in the coming Tin-Can Island Chapter election.
Akintoye, who is one of the two candidates vying for the position of chairman in an election to be held in June 22nd, 2016 is the anointed candidate of Prince Chukwura.
Prin ce Chukwura warned the Association’s Electoral Committee (ASECO) that elders in the association would not accept disqualification of candidates in the coming election.
"We will form parallel government if any qualified candidate is disqualified by ASECO. Let them go to Abuja this time, we are ready for them."
Ozo Chukwura said Ojo was his candidate and he is qualified to vie for chairmanship position in the chapter.
"Ojo is my candidate and he is qualified to run, he has paid his dues and he should be allowed to run. If anyone is disqualified, we will form a parallel government." Chukwura reiterated.
However, while speaking, Secretary; Board of Trustee (BoT) of ANLCA, Prince Taye Oyeniyi assured the gathering that no qualified candidates would be disqualified.
"Your vote will count and we want you to be assured that no one will be disqualified unjustly. ANLCA has come to stay and we are one big family."
He continued, "The BoT will not play politics with anyone, if your papers are complete, no one will disqualify you," he assured.
‎Speaking with Shipping Position Daily at the end of the campaign, Akintoye said that if voted in as chairman, his approach with the customs and other stakeholders would not be confrontational, but that he would embrace more dialogue.
"‎There would not be confrontations, but all issues will be resolved on the round table"
"For three months if I mount that position, if you people are not seeing my effectiveness, then I am ready to leave the position"
‎"I know the challenges of my people, I am a grass root person and I am telling you that by the power of God and the Generals behind me, I can take Tin Can to another level"
‎"There is a lot to be corrected at the port through the association, we have seven alerts from the Nigeria Customs Service, we have more than five units of the Nigerian Police writing for the stoppage of cargo for examination"
"From every corner of Tin Can Port you go today, there is a cry from all agents because the environment is not conducive for them to operate‎" he said.
