Controversy Trails NLNG Employment List… As Bonny Youths Cry Foul

Confusion has continued to trail the 2012 Technical Training and Employment list of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) even as some indigenes and youths of Bonny in Rivers State are already spoiling for fight over the non-inclusion of their names on the list.
Shipping Position Daily gathered last week in Port Harcourt that the youths are bitter over the fact that NLNG listed about 33 names as beneficiaries in its 2012 technicians training and employment programme, but consciously dump names of indigenes of Bonny and Rivers State.

Confusion has continued to trail the 2012 Technical Training and Employment list of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) even as some indigenes and youths of Bonny in Rivers State are already spoiling for fight over the non-inclusion of their names on the list.
Shipping Position Daily gathered last week in Port Harcourt that the youths are bitter over the fact that NLNG listed about 33 names as beneficiaries in its 2012 technicians training and employment programme, but consciously dump names of indigenes of Bonny and Rivers State.
The list, according to sources was dominated by indigenes of South West states and from Delta State.
In an interview, Leader of Bonny Youth Federation, Mr. Gift Furo confirmed that, “I have seen the list and have presently instituted a showdown meeting with managements of NLNG to clarify issues”
Mr. Furo, described the list as a charade, which will never be accepted by the Bonny Youths. He however called on Bonny Youth to remain calm for the leadership of the group to address the injustice.
Another frontline Bonny Youth Leader, Thompson Beresiri who was enraged by the release of the list by NLNG, said the list is unacceptable. He said that the company action is a sign of injustice against Bonny Youths. He also called for a reversal of the error.
Also speaking on the issue, Silas Halisham, another Bonny Youth, reminded NLNG that indigenes of Bonny will be the ones that will suffer the pains of dangerous gas emission resulting in acid rain and degraded environment.
He therefore expressed disappointment that the people are left out from benefiting from gainful employment instituted by NLNG Company.
Already, it was gathered that Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi  Ameachi has come into the issue, even as the State Security Services (SSS), Rivers State Police Command and Joint Military Task Force (JTF), have stepped up actions to prevent the breakdown  of law and order.
