The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has reiterated that it will be introducing Degree programmes in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management at all tertiary institutions in 2016.
Registrar of the CRFFN; Sir Mike Jukwe gave this assurance in a press release made available to Shipping Position Daily last week.

In the statement which was sent to our correspondent by Head, Corporate Affairs of CRFFN, Uromta Chinyere, Jukwe equally lampooned the Registrar of the Freight Forwarders Academy Of Nigeria (FFAN); Mazi Joseph Anabaraonye who had alleged that freight forwarding academies have lost relevance in the scheme of things within the CRFFN.
Jukwe reaffirmed the CRFFN’s commitment to the actualization of its mandate, especially in the areas of training and capacity building, adding that the Council will not be deterred by distractors.
He appealed to stakeholders to join hands with the Council to move the industry forward.
Reacting to a publication on page 6 of Shipping Position Daily of Monday 17th August, 2015 where Anabaraonye had made the allegations, Jukwe said that the era has gone where the freight forwarding profession was seen as an all-comer affairs where unqualified individuals, unregistered and unaccredited corporate bodies, institutions or associations find themselves at the helms of affairs of the industry.
He stated that the Registrar of the Freight Forwarding Academy of Nigeria (FFAN) Mr. Joseph Anabaraonye has become embattled ever since his institution fell short of the criteria for accreditation by CRFFN, adding that Mr. Anabaraonye has tried all he could in the past to lure the Council into accrediting his institution even when it failed to meet the guidelines and since then, he has seen nothing good in the efforts of CRFFN to reposition the Freight Forwarding Sub Sector.
He re-affirmed that the Council has a laid down procedures, guidelines and principles as stipulated by the CRFFN enabling Act number 16, 2007 on registration of qualified individual freight forwarders and Corporate Bodies as well as accreditations of Associations and Training Institutions and Programmes and would not fall short of those criteria.
“Mr. Anabaraonye’s claims lacked substance since the institution is not accredited by CRFFN, and so has no locus to speak for other maritime institutions, as its operations are deemed illegal”
“CRFFN is open at all times to register and accredit any individual, corporate bodies, associations, training programmes and institutions that meet the Council's requirements”
