The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is set to play a frontline role in the implementation of the National Single Window (NSW) Project as the Council has secured a place as a member of the Steering Committee, taking responsibility for championing the seamless onboarding of freight forwarders and logistics operators onto the platform.
Recall that the CRFFN Registrar, Mr. Kingsley Igwe had earlier raised an alarm over the delay in incorporating the Council into the National Single Window platform.
However last month, the Council’s Management team hosted the National Single Window delegation led by its Director Tola Fakolade. Discussions and deliberations from the meeting focused on CRFFN’s role in trade facilitation & advancing seamless trade operations in Nigeria.
But, speaking in an exclusive chat with Shipping Position Daily last week, the Registrar of CRFFN, Mr Kingsley Igwe, disclosed that the Council has moved beyond lingering disputes over the Practitioners Operating Fee (POF) court appeal and the SW Global saga, and is now concentrating on policy-driven contributions to industry growth.
According to him, CRFFN’s inclusion in the NSW Steering Committee positions the Council to play a significant role in facilitating smooth implementation of the project and ensuring seamless onboarding of logistics operators.
“This means CRFFN is strategically involved in shaping processes that will enhance trade facilitation, improve efficiency in cargo clearance, and align Nigeria’s freight forwarding practices with global standards,” Igwe stated.
The NSW Project is a flagship initiative aimed at integrating government agencies and private sector stakeholders on a unified digital platform to streamline trade documentation, reduce delays, and curb corruption at ports. It is billed to take off by the first quarter of 2026.
Industry experts say CRFFN’s membership in the Steering Committee reflects government’s recognition of the Council’s central role in regulating and professionalizing freight forwarding in Nigeria.
