The Nigerian Shippers Council has said that the introduction of Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) will help tackle issues surrounding under declaration of both new and fairly used vehicles in Nigerian seaports.
Executive Secretary of the agency, Barrister Hassan Bello gave the assurance last week at a forum with maritime journalists in Lagos.
Bello said that there has been high level of under-declaration by importers of vehicles, saying that the practice leads to loss of revenue to the government.

The executive secretary noted that with the CTN importers will have no option but to declare their vehicle import genuinely.
Giving a vivid example, Bello explained that from port of origin to port destination, CTN will enable the customs to know the actual year of manufacture of the vehicle.
