Top echelon of the Nigeria Customs Service comprising of five Assistant Comptrollers General (ACG) have commended the Controller in charge of Western Marine Command ; Comptroller Yusuf Umar for training of personnel of the command’s personnel in the handling of AK47 guns.

Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG), Training and Staff Development, Onyebuchi Okoli as commending the Controller, Western Marine Command on the in-house training of officers on the use of the sophisticated arm.
Okoli reminded the controller to forward the list of approved marine courses to the headquarters to enable the management assist in the training of marine officers in expectation of the arrival of sea-going vessel for the command.
She affirmed that the sea going vessels will arrive at the country any moment from now.
The statement further disclosed that ACG Tariff and Trade, Grace Adeyemo who led the top officers to the command also acknowledged that the training will enable officers of the command to handle arms properly while on board the vessel in order to curb smuggling activities on the high sea.
Adeyemo reiterated that the purpose of the visit was to remind the officers on the need to ensure zero tolerance for anti-smuggling activities on the waters.
She urged the officers to support the controller in discharging his responsibilities.
"This has gone to show that Comptroller Umar has the backing of the management team to take the Command to a modern day Customs Command".
"Stating categorically clear the team leader of the visiting ACGs’; ACG Adeyemo, G.O (T&T) stressed that Comptroller Umar, Yusuf is a man of great reputation “known for turning things around for good , better and even into best” , the statement added.
The command’s image maker quited the ACG as saying that:"She further said the CGC did not make mistake by sending Comptroller Umar Yusuf to Western Marine Command, it goes to show his articulate personality and asked that the officers are expected to work hand in hand with the Area Controller to enable the Command move forward on a high pace."
"Commending the CAC on the in-house training of officers on the use of AK47 riffle, ACG Okoli O.I (Training & Staff Dev.) reminded the Comptroller to forward the list of approved Marine Courses to the Headquarters to enable the Management assist in the training of Marine officers in respect to the sea-going vessel that will arrive the country soon"
"And to also enable the officers man the vessel and curb smuggling activities on high sea".
"Without mincing words ACG Adeyemo, G.O (T&T) told the officer that the sole purpose of the visit is to remind the officers that the year has begun and a lot is expected from the Command as regards anti-smuggling activities on water.”
The statement further states that Five ACGs’ namely ACG Adeyemo, G.O (T&T); ACG Abueh M.N (I&I); ACG Alu, S.R (EXCISE, FTZ & IND. Inc); ACG Odunmbaku, A.T (HRM) and ACG Okoli, O.I (Training & Staff Dev. ) who were on the visit witnessed the arms drill.
