Ecomaritime Terminals Receives 157 Vessels

Leading concessionaire in  Calabar port, ECM  terminals, says it has received 157 vessels since it commenced operations in that port in 2007. The company which is a member of the Ecomarine Group said 26 of these vessels were received in December 2008 alone, adding that it has recorded an average net productivity of 18 move per hour in its terminal.
A statement released by the company last week indicate that although the terminal like others in Calabar port area, has not been enjoying high patronage from shipping lines as a result of low draft of the port, but reputable clients have continued to embrace ECM terminals because of its modern facilities and quality of services.
Such high profile clients include Baco Liner, Maersk line, Dangote Flour mills of Nigeria PLC, CPMS, Marine Gulf Agency, APS, TINAPA, Calabar monorail, Oando, Nort West Petroleum and Gas, East Horison, Honeywell group, all Calabar EPZ consignees, importers in Aba Nnewi, Onitsha axis, Nigerian middle belt, Cocoa Exporters like saro Agro and allied products.
In addition to these, containers export from the Calabar EPZ pass through the ECM terminals. Commodities imported through the terminal so far include Clinker, wheat ,Gypsum, liquid bulk including oil tanker with 66 others discharging at the terminal during the review period.
The management of the ECM terminal also stressed that it has so far taken far-reaching measures to maintain high-level security. In this regard the terminal has been ISPS code- complaint since June 2008.
