A former sole administrator of the Institute of Transport Administration (IOTA); Prince Godwin Don-Aki has alleged that the current national executives of the institute are occupying their offices illegal.

In a chat with Shipping Position Daily via a telephone, the ex-IOTA boss alleged that the tenure of Professor Innocent Ogwude-led executives has expired since June 30th 2015, saying that there is need to organise an election that will usher in a new leadership.

Don-Aki noted that the Professor Ogwude-led executives have not been able to move the institute forward even as he called on the Board of Trustees to organise election that will usher-in new executives that can champion the course of the transport institute.

According to him, IOTA under Professor Ogwude has failed to move the institute forward, because what he alleged as dictatorial, autocratic and highhanded style of leadership.

Don-Aki said that, "the issue of ground is that they have two years tenure which expires on June 30th this year and members and well wishers want to know what exactly the problem is".

Speaking further, he added that IOTA is supposed to run a two years term for its executives, adding that a formal election needs to be conducted following the constitution setting up the institute.

He said that at the expiration of the tenure of the current executives, “members are worried because of the fact that the incumbent has failed to live up to expectations in the area of performance".

The ex-sole administrator of IOTA alleged that, "the problem with the institute is that members don't have respect for the constitution and issues surrounding misappropriation of funds”.

He also called on the governing council and Board of Trustees to remove the national financial secretary, Mr. Matthew Akinlabi, saying that he is a problematic individual in IOTA.

He said unless the governing council sacks its national financial secretary, IOTA will remain where it is at the moment.

But in his response to Don Aki’s calls and allegations, spokesperson of IOTA; Nnamdi Eronini of IOTA, said that the ex sole administrator of IoTA does not have a say about what goes on in the institute.

He told our correspondent via the telephone that Don-Aki contract has expired and since he was never a member of IOTA , there is no point for him to meddle in the affairs of the institute.

Eronini added that the former sole administrator is wrong in his allegations that the executive have overstayed the tenure.
He is not a member of the institute, so he has no understanding of current events and the activities of the institute.
If he is alleging fraud, on what grounds is he alleging that, does he have access to the accounts of the institute or does he participate in our meetings?
