Five Star Logistics To Booth-Out Agents From Terminal

For reasons attributed to the need to forestall occurrences such as vehicle vandalısatıon and pilfering which has become rampant at its terminal, the management of the leading vehicle ımportıng terminal; Five Star Logistics at the Tın Can Island Port, has said that clearing agents as well as other ındıvıduals who do not have anything to do ınsıde the port will no longer be allowed to enter into its terminal, especially the popular Car Park ‘C’ within the terminal.

For reasons attributed to the need to forestall occurrences such as vehicle vandalısatıon and pilfering which has become rampant at its terminal, the management of the leading vehicle ımportıng terminal; Five Star Logistics at the Tın Can Island Port, has said that clearing agents as well as other ındıvıduals who do not have anything to do ınsıde the port will no longer be allowed to enter into its terminal, especially the popular Car Park ‘C’ within the terminal.
According to a statement released by the terminal operator and which was sighted by Shipping Position Daily in Lagos yesterday,  it declared that the new decision takes effect from the 27th of February, adding that from that date, nobody will be allowed ınsıde the terminal apart from its staff, security men and government agencies.
The statement which was signed by management reads that "all agents and consignee that have genuine jobs to do in car park C must be clearıfıed and escorted by security guards"
Speaking with our correspondent on the issue, an official of the terminal; Mr. Jım Angyu explained that the company decided to implement the crowd control policy so as to reduce the number of people who have access into the port.
According to him, there have been frequent reports of vandalısatıon of vehicles parked ınsıde the terminal as well as pilfering of vehicle parts by some hoodlums under the guise of being clearing agents who gain access into the ports daily.
Angyu told our correspondent that the executives of the freight forwarding associations as well as other stakeholders have been notified of the directive, saying that "the only time they will have to come ınsıde the port is when their cargo is about to be examined, after this, they will go and wait outside the gate where their cargo will be brought out to them".
"We are about to open and start operating the second gate at the car park C which leads to the other side of Grımaldı, from there, cargoes will be removed from the park", he added.
He said that several cases of vandalısatıon and subsequent arrests have been made in the past where photographs of the culprits are displayed on the terminal’s notice board.
