This was contained in a statement made available to Auto Port Weekly in Lagos by the command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Uche Ejesieme in Lagos last week.
The command's image maker quoted Deputy Comptroller Yahaya Usman Biri as saying that the vehicles were intercepted on Saturday August 1st 2015 at about 9.40pm.
He noted that the vehicles were intercepted on intelligence gathering along the Lagos Shagamu Expressway.
Biri stated that the five Toyota Corolla cars have a duty paid value of N35,154,500.00.
He maintained that his team shares intelligence with other Customs Units/Commands on ways of effectively blocking smuggling of items in total disregard to the fiscal policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
According to him, smugglers will have a hectic moment with them in the days ahead, following the fine-tuning and re-jigging of their operational modalities in conjunction with other customs formations.
