The Customs Zonal Public Relations Officer, Uche Ejesieme, said this in a statement issued after the visit of the Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone A of the Service an Assistant Controller of Customs, Adeyanju Aremu to the facility.

The Nigeria Customs Service Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’; ACG Modupe Aremu on Wednesday 5 October 2022, embarked on a working visit to Ikorodu Government Warehouse for an on-the-spot assessment of the general conditions of the warehouse.

The statement added that the ACG’s visit was part of her oversight function to the facilities under her supervision.

According to the Customs spokesperson, the visit is coming on the heels of insinuations in the media that the facility is filled to the brim, and therefore can no longer be readily available for deposition of overtime or seized goods.

“She took time to inspect all the goods domiciled in the facility, had engagement with the critical stakeholders, including the security and regulatory agencies on ways to ensure the sanity and security of the facility”, the statement added.

“The tour also provided an opportunity for a true assessment of the space in the facility contrary to the opinion advertised in the media, which suggests that the facility is overcrowded/ congested.

“It was gathered that the facility can comfortably accommodate about 9000 containers and other general goods”, the statement affirmed.
