The International Freight Forwarders Association (IFFA) yesterday inaugurated a task force and Coordinators to represent its interest at various port terminals inside the Tin Can Island Port.
Chairman of IFFA at Tin Can  port, Comrade Ojo Akintoye said that since it started operations three months ago at Tin Can , the association has recorded success in the advancement of trade facilitation at Tin Can port.
Since it kick-started operations, he said that IFFA membership has grown in excess of 200 members and there was need to appoint more persons to coordinate and represent its members in their operations.
He said that IFFA at Tin can port have been engaging stakeholders positively in advancing the course of trade and ensure that customs revenue leakages are blocked.  He said that the task cannot be done by just his 11- man executive committee, hence the need for the appointments.
"We have discovered that this is not a job that nine of us can do alone, we saw the need for us to co-opt the people that we know are professionals like us to help us at the various terminals and beats under the jurisdiction of Tin Can"
"Since we commence our activities at Tin Can Island, people have been willing to work with us and join the association, if you open our register now we have more than 200 members, due to this, we feel that our eyes cannot be everywhere to witness the challenges of our members, so there is need to appoint these persons to also protect the image of the association" he said.
Earlier, members of the association embarked on a rally and road walk which started from Tin Can 1st gate to 2nd gate, PTML terminal and back.
The various groups that were given letters of appointment yesterday are: members of task force committee, finance committee, welfare committee, customs relations committee, Coordinator of various terminals and a task force.
Francis Akadiri was appointed as chairman of the IFFA task force while Ukaegbu Paul was appointed vice chairman. Segun Adesodun is Cordinator of TICT Terminal; Major James Omotunde (rtd) is vice Coordinator.
At Ports and Cargo Terminals, Hameed Popoola is Coordinator while Lucky Selly is vice Coordinator. The Coordinator for 5 star Logistics terminal is Sunday Adegbite while his Vice is Longman Odozi.
