Following the improvement in electricity supply currently being experienced in different parts of the country, fuel attendants at filling stations in some parts of Lagos have lamented that the steady power supply is negatively affecting sale of fuel at their stations.
Some of the filling station attendants told Shipping Position Daily that the rate at which residents troop  to get fuel for their generators has continued to decrease since there has been an improvement in power supply.
They equally lamented that the development has reduced their own ‘take- home’ which they usually realise daily from monies collected on each keg that is used to buy fuel by their customers.
In the same vein, investigations carried out by our correspondent show that the sale of diesel has equally dropped as factories and homes that hitherto rely on diesel for their businesses and homes no longer use them as often as they used to as a result of increase in power supply.
Speaking with our correspondent at a filling station in Igando, a Lagos suburb last week, an attendant at a Conoil filling station, Mr. Julius Edema explained that before the present scarcity of petrol, the volume of sale of petrol into kegs reduced drastically and that this also affected the amount of funds that go into the pockets of fuel attendants.
Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Oluwafemi Osinaike  who works at another filling station;  "Gods Time” filling station around  Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos, also  explained how the steady power supply has affected operations, he said "it has affected our sale a lot, this is because the level of consumption when there is power can not be compared, when there is constant power supply the volume of sale drops, but when there is no constant power our sales will improve".
Meanwhile, some customers who obtain buy fuel in kegs also told Shipping Position Daily that the power supply affected the way they often buy fuel, even as some of them lamented that the improvement has not made any difference in their community.
And a freight forwarder, Mr. Ojo Olabode said that "power was stable in my area at Ikorodu until when we heard they went on strike, now its total blackout and generator use as well as petrol and diesel sale have increased".
"I have a suspicion that fuel marketers and generator importers might be behind the PHCN problem, but government on their own part should ensure that fuel is available" Ojo said.
Also speaking on the steady power supply, a nurse, Mrs Adeleye Juliana said that, "I believe that the price of petrol in the future could be lowered by the government if this level of power supply continues"
"I also suspect that the government wants to use it as the subject of the next presidential campaign come 2015. I won't be surprised if GEJ promises a reversal of fuel price from N97 to N65".
