The Western Zone of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on Monday expressed its readiness to support the Federal Government to bring an end to oil theft.
Chairman of the IPMAN in the zone Mr Olumide Ogunmade, affirmed that oil “bunkering” was capable of crippling the economy.
Ogunmade said that oil theft had been a major challenge to socio-economic development in the country and urged government agencies, unions and other stakeholders to support the government to curtain the menace.

Ogunmade said that oil theft had been a major challenge to socio-economic development in the country and urged government agencies, unions and other stakeholders to support the government to curtain the menace.
“All stakeholders, including those in the maritime business both locally and internationally, must rise up to the occasion to curb the menace.
“We know the impact of bunkering and oil theft on our economy and our environment.
“ These are vices that we must collectively stamp out of our nation. We cannot claim that we are helpless,” Ogunmade said.
He decried the daily loss involving several thousands of barrels of crude, adding that blocking the leakage would go a long way in improving the nation’s economy.
