KIA Nigeria has said that it has trained 150 students from Nigerian universities as part of effort the company's local content drive.
The company also stated that the capacity building for the beneficiary is aimed at producing qualified engineers that can perform assembly duties.
The company also revealed that it has rolled out 2,500 ultra-modern KIA vehicles assembly plant in Lagos, saying that Nigeria now produces nine models and their respective trims.

KIA said it has rolled out over 2,500 units since its inception in April, last year.
The efficiency and beauty of the multi-billion naira state-of-the-art assembly plant of Kia Motors Nigeria, in Lagos became apparent during a tour of the facility by auto-journalists, recently.
The tour was conducted by the Chief Operation officer, Gitesh Yagnik; the Chief Commercial Officer, Sandeep Malhotra, assisted by the Supply Chain Manager, Yemisi Onanuga.
The sprawling complex has been built to the high standard of KIA Motors Corporation.
It took several months of construction, installation of technologically advanced equipment and the training of its staff have snowballed into its first assembly lines that assembles Kia models, such as its best-selling Kia Rio, Cerato, Optima, Sportage and the all-new 2015 Kia Sorento recently unveiled globally among others are all products from the plant.
According to them, the plant kicked off with semi knocked down with painted and trimmed bodies shipped from an established plant in one box.
Mechanicals are put in another and these, including other accessories, are coupled in the production lines.
Engineers in the plant are from Nigerian universities. These were trained and are now able to perform their various assembling duties.
"We now have 150 trained and qualified engineers that can be compared to international standard and over 50 support staff running the operational and assembly process cycle of the plant."
The officials said the company currently sells its best-in-class and widely accepted Kia Rio for N1.98.
It's indeed a quantum leap by the auto company to present a new car for less than N2 million.
