Our attention has been drawn to the misrepresentation in our story with the above headline, and published in our online edition of Tuesday July 7, 2018.
The story was attributed to the Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service; Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Aminu Dahiru.
The story erroneously portrayed that the containers went missing on their ways to the Kaduna Inland Dry Port and Kano Inland Container Depot.
We have since discovered that there was no iota of truth in the said story. No container got missing in transit between Lagos, Kano and Kaduna.
We are indeed in awe as to how the reputable names of both Kaduna Inland Dry Port and Kano Inland Container Depot got into the story.
It is also not true that the Zonal Coordinator said four containers destined for Kaduna Inland Dry Port and Kano Inland Container Depot
As a reputable maritime media organisation with diverse friends across the industry, we feel highly embarrassed that we are linked to this gaffe.
We hereby retract the story in its entirety. We also apologise to Inland Containers Nigeria Limited, Kaduna Inland Dry Port and Kano Inland Container Depot.
Meanwhile, we have commenced appropriate in-house disciplinary measures against the Reporter who filed the story.
