The Maritime Police Command and the National Single Window (NSW) Secretariat have strengthened their collaboration to enhance trade facilitation and streamline port operations in Nigeria.
This development followed a strategic engagement on Friday, August 22, when a delegation from the NSW Secretariat visited the Maritime Police Command Headquarters in Obalende, Lagos. The visit formed part of the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to engage critical stakeholders in line with the Federal Government’s vision for efficient port management and increased revenue mobilization.
Speaking during the meeting, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Command, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba, commended the National Single Window initiative as a major step toward addressing operational bottlenecks in Nigeria’s maritime trade sector.
He assured the delegation of the Command’s unwavering support, particularly in ensuring security, promoting transparency, and improving maritime operations.
“Security remains a key enabler of trade. The Maritime Police Command is committed to supporting the successful implementation of the National Single Window platform to drive efficiency and economic growth,” Garba stated.
The discussions focused on strategies to strengthen inter-agency coordination, address emerging security and operational challenges, and promote effective management of maritime trade processes in line with global best practices.
Both parties expressed readiness to share information and foster operational synergy to secure Nigeria’s waterways, improve cargo clearance timelines, and enhance investor confidence in the country’s maritime industry.
The Maritime Police Command reiterated its commitment to partnerships that advance maritime safety, boost national security, and support Nigeria’s economic development.
