The Minister of Transport , Alhaji Suileman Yusuf held his maiden meeting with maritime stakeholders comprising terminal operators , freight forwarders and head of parastals with an assurance that he was determined to work with them to move the sector forward.
The meeting, described as an in house one, was also used by the stakeholders to analyse the gains and pains doing of business at the nation’s seaports.
However, the minister assured that he would work earnestly with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the ports continue to receive adequate support from the federal government in other to attain the expected developments as obtained in advanced economy.
This is the first parley with stakeholders in the maritime industry since he became the minister of transport about two weeks ago.
The same day, the minister also had a train ride from Iddo to Ikeja as part of his familiarisation tour of parastals under his ministry.
Among those who attended the parley with the minister in Lagos include all the terminal operators and head of parastals among whom are MD NPA, Mallam Abdusalam Mohammed, Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers Council, Captain Adamu Biu, and Director General of NIMASA, Barrister Temisan Omatseye,
