After serving his first tenure of four years, delegates from the four branches of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) yesterday unanimously re-elected Comrade Tony Nted Emmanuel for another four years.
In what appear like a fait accompli, owing largely to what a delegate from the Nigerian Ports Authourity branch described as borne out of his sterling performances, he alongside other national executives were returned unopposed.

In what appear like a fait accompli, owing largely to what a delegate from the Nigerian Ports Authourity branch described as borne out of his sterling performances, he alongside other national executives were returned unopposed.
Except for the representatives of Seamen and NIWA branch, Comrade Ode who had served the mandatory two terms, all other executives were re-elected. He was replaced by Comrade Eromobo Douglas who is the new Deputy President General, Seamen and NIWA.
The union has 12 national executive council members.
The generally peaceful delegates’ conference was attended by the Minister of Labour Chief Emeka Nwogu and the President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar.
Comrade Nted Emmanuel was first elected in 2009.
