The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has inaugurated and sworn-in executive members of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) as members of the union, marking the official integration of CRFFN workers into MWUN.
Speaking on Friday, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, President General of MWUN, hailed the integration as a milestone in the union’s journey, which began six to seven months earlier.
Adeyanju, who pledged the full support of the union to the newly created unit under the Shipping Branch, stated that the primary responsibility of any leader is to protect the welfare of his workers.
He acknowledged the significant role of the Shipping Branch President in facilitating the transition and called for a mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences between existing union members.
Earlier, the acting Registrar of CRFFN, Mrs. Chinyere Uromta, highlighted the benefits of the union’s expansion.
Represented by Mrs. Elizabeth Ifezue, the Principal Administrator of the Council, Uromta conveyed a message of unity and collaboration. She pledged to work tirelessly to support and advocate for the rights and wellbeing of all members, striving to create a more efficient and productive maritime industry that benefits the nation.

Also speaking at the inauguration, Comrade Ekpeyong Ekpeyong, President of the Shipping Branch, emphasized the return of CRFFN workers to their roots within the MWUN and noted their inclusion under the Shipping, Clearing, and Forwarding Branch. He expressed enthusiasm about the benefits and synergies that the integration offers to both MWUN and the new members.
