The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has called for an amendment of the Act which created the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (CRFFN), so that all freight forwarding associations will be regulated properly.
President of the association; Chief Eugene Nweke made the recommendation yesterday in Lagos when executive members of the Nigeria Institute of Freight Forwarding and Customs Brokers (NIFFCB) led by it National President; Dr. Zebulon Ikokide paid a courtesy visit to the association.

According to Nweke, there is the need for the federal government to identify the problems surrounding CRFFN; he added that the various freight forwarding associations claim to be bigger than the Council itself.
He reiterated that the enforcement arm of CRFFN should also swing into action to rid the ports of unregistered freight agents who he described as impersonators.
The NAGAFF president told his visitors that the association is in support of the institute to achieve greatness urging the NIFFCB to take proactive measures and have a better understanding with CRFFN.
He said that the CRFFN is the only recognised freight forwarding body at international level, calling on the institute to work harder to pursue international standard.
Nweke added that ridding the ports of quacks will bring about professionalism and sustainable freight forwarding practice in Nigeria.
He further stressed that freight forwarding practice is a versatile profession that require skilled and knowledgeable individual to discharge.
Earlier in his address, National President of the NIFFCB , Dr. Zebulon Ikokide called on the association to support the institute’s quest to professionalise freight forwarding.
Ikokide noted that, "with positive support from your association and the federal government new law that is meant to regulate the freight forwarding practise through the CRFFN, we shall collectively contribute positively to the development of the freight forwarding sub sector in Nigeria.”
He further added that the institute’s desire is to see that freight forwarding is done by professionals.
