The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, (NAGAFF), has inaugurated its Kebbi Chapter, with a charge to members to uphold professionalism and compliance while discharging their duty in the sector.
The association’s National President, Mr Tochukwo Ezisi, said on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi that the new chapter would serve as a hub for collaboration, capacity building and policy advocacy.
Ezisi, represented by Alhaji Bello Magaji, the Vice President, North-West, described the inauguration as a milestone achievement in the expansion of the association’s activities across the country.
“Kebbi, with its abundant commercial potential and strategic location near trade routes, is poised to shine in Nigeria’s logistics landscape.
“With this chapter, we are not just adding another location on the map, but igniting a transformative movement within the freight forwarding industry,” he said.
The president commended the newly elected members of the association for their commitment towards establishing the chapter.
He urged them to be agents of change and innovation in the profession.
In his remarks, the newly elected NAGAFF Chairman in the state, Alhaji Muhammad Na-Hali, said the chapter would promote efficiency, transparency and best practices in freight forwarding.
He assured that his leadership would focus on streamlining customs’ procedures, embracing technology, fostering industry collaboration and supporting professional development.
“Our industry plays a vital role in facilitating trade while ensuring compliance with regulations.
“We are committed to supporting customs authorities in meeting revenue targets through accurate declarations and collaboration with stakeholders,” Na-Hali said.
Declaring the office open, the Customs Area Controller in Kebbi, Ibrahim Muhammad-Matawalle, urged the new executives to enlighten their members on compliance and uphold the values upon which the association was established.
“Leadership is a trust and you are being entrusted with the responsibility of guiding your members to uplift the name of the association and promote trade.
“NAGAFF plays a vital role in international trade as licensed customs agents representing importers and exporters in ensuring that goods are properly cleared,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the executive elected include; Hassan Ruwa, Vice Chairman, Nasir Muhammad-Zuru, Secretary, and Abubakar Umar, Treasurer.
Others were; Shehu Yusuf-Bunza, Financial Secretary; Aliyu Bawa-Gwandu, Assistant Secretary and Umar Faruku-Abdullahi, Publicity Secretary, among others.
