The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) says it will soon join the Nigeria Economic Summit (NES) as a corporate body.
It’s the founder; Dr Boniface Aniebonam, made the promise in an interview on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said his association should join NES in shaping national economic policies.
Aniebonam said that for NAGAFF to be invited to make a presentation at the recent meeting of NES was a testimonial of sort.
“As a professional body, we have been apt at using the little platform at our disposal profitable in making the economy thrive.
“At the movement, NAGAFF has a template geared towards making the maritime sector blossom in all ramifications.
“Therefore, our membership of the summit will bring to the fore all the various short comings in the maritime sector,’’ Aniebolam said.
According to him the maritime body is studying the amendment of Nigeria Customs Act at the National Assembly with a view to making contribution for its review to suit international best practices
He said that a lot of lopsidedness in the Act was the bane of smooth operations at the ports that needed to be corrected.
Aniebonam said that it would take the likes of NAGAFF to be at the centre stage to change the sector for good.
“NAGAFF is out to correct business anomalies that have been limiting the growth of the sector and our economy at large,’’ he said.
