NIMAREX 2025 Rescheduled to Hold in November, Focus on Strategic Maritime Collaboration

As against the earlier scheduled date of June 2025, Findings by Shipping Position Daily have revealed that the Nigeria Maritime Exhibition (NIMAREX) 2025 has now been officially rescheduled to hold in November.

The Consultant of the Nigeria Maritime Exhibition (NIMAREX), Ms. Funmi Folorunsho, in an exclusive chat with our correspondent, confirmed that the long-anticipated 2025 edition of NIMAREX will now hold from November 17th to 19th, 2025, at the Lagos Oriental Hotels.

NIMAREX 2025 will be held under the theme: “Repositioning the Nigerian Maritime Industry – Need for Strategic Collaboration for Sustainable Growth and Global Competitiveness.”

Established in 2011 by indigenous ship owners, NIMAREX was conceived as a platform to showcase Nigeria’s vast maritime potentials to international investors. Beyond exhibitions, the expo has historically contributed to shaping government policies and enacting supportive legislation aimed at empowering indigenous maritime operators.

However, the event went into limbo after internal disputes among stakeholders led to a decline in momentum, with the last edition in 2016 widely considered lackluster. The re-launch of NIMAREX in 2025 signals a renewed commitment to collaboration, industry revival, and global competitiveness.

Originally scheduled for June 2025, Ms. Folorunsho noted that the event was postponed due to a clash with Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration on June 12. She explained that while preparations had been progressing smoothly with key stakeholders finalizing working agreements ahead of the earlier proposed June date, the organizers opted to shift the date to avoid any conflict with national observances.

The NIMAREX Consultant also revealed that the trustees of NIMAREX will be meeting with the press soon to share further updates on the upcoming edition.

“We’re having it (NIMAREX) in November because the June that we proposed for it coincided with June 12th Democracy Day. So, we’ve moved it. Hopefully, by next week, the trustees of NIMAREX will be meeting the press.

“All that I’m saying to you is just to confirm that organizers of NIMAREX 2025 will be hosting the event in November as stated on the website. Further details will be sent to you. So, it will be held 17th – 19th November, 2025 at the Lagos Oriental Hotels” she said.

On his part, the President of Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA), Otunba Sola Adewumi who is another key figure in the organizing committee, confirmed that the event had been rescheduled to November.

Otunba Adewunmi noted that efforts are now being directed fully towards the November event. “It has been postponed to November. So we are working towards November” he said.
