The Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Dakuku Peterside, has congratulated the agency’s Head of Corporate Communications, Hajia Lami Tumaka for receiving the “Evergreen Public Relations Personality Award’’ in the maritime industry.
A statement by Mr Philip Kyanet of the Corporate Communication Department of NIMASA on Friday in Lagos said the award came from Transquest Media Group.
Peterside also congratulated an Assistant Chief Public Relations Officer in the Agency, Mr Daniel Kajo, for his award as the “Enterprising Public Relations Personality’’ in the maritime industry.
The director-general said that he was not surprised by the honours, adding that the award was an eloquent testimony of Hajia Tumaka’s dedication, mentorship and passion for her responsibilities.
He said that all these qualities had brought about improved dynamism and innovation in the communication machinery of the agency.
Peterside noted that Tumaka’s inspiring leadership qualities had positively impacted the agency and the industry at large.
The director-general urged her and members of her team not to rest on their oars but to continue to fashion out more innovative ways of communicating the ‘Change’ process in NIMASA for the benefit of the entire sector.
In her comments, Tumaka dedicated the award to NIMASA in general and her team in particular, adding that the recognition was as a result of the active support of the director- general and the opportunity provided her as a staff of NIMASA.
She said that she was humbled by the kind words of the director-general and pledged to rededicate herself even more, to the service of the agency and the nation.
Tumaka, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, thanked Transquest Media Group for the award and restated her commitment to professionalism in the practice of Public Relations.
The awards of the Evergreen PR Personality and Enterprising PR Personality were presented to the recipients at the 9th Annual Transport Development Symposium/Lecture and Awards organised by Transquest Media Group on Saturday at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
