NIMASA Donates N21millo Flood Relief Materials To Anambra

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated relief materials worth over N21million to victims of the recent flood disaster in Anambra State.
The Executive Director Maritime Labour & Cabotage Services, Barrister Nwabueze Obi who presented the materials on behalf of the Director General, Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi to the Executive Director State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr. Justine Ijezie said NIMASA was in Anambra to empathize with the Government and people of the State in this trying period.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated relief materials worth over N21million to victims of the recent flood disaster in Anambra State.
The Executive Director Maritime Labour & Cabotage Services, Barrister Nwabueze Obi who presented the materials on behalf of the Director General, Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi to the Executive Director State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr. Justine Ijezie said NIMASA was in Anambra to empathize with the Government and people of the State in this trying period.
Barrister Obi said that the Management of NIMASA in her responsiveness extended its Corporate Social Responsibility to victims of the flood disaster in Anambra by providing the relief materials as a way of bringing succor to the affected victims.
Barrister Nwabueze Obi expressed his deepest shock at the extent of damage and devastation done by this flood, the number of lives lost and farmlands destroyed. He prayed to God not to allow such disaster befall the State and the entire nation again.
The SEMA boss Dr. Justine Ijezie, while responding on behalf of the Governor Anambra State; Mr Peter Obi expressed his sincere appreciation to NIMASA for empathizing with the state in its trying period.
He told the NIMASA representatives that it was a big surprise to see the Agency in the State and that the gifts were commendable. He also urged other Federal Government Agencies and wealthy individuals to do same.
The SEMA boss went further to appeal to the management of NIMASA to also identify with them in the post- flood period.
Relief items distributed by NIMASA to the nine affected Local Governments with 21 camps include; Mattresses, Rice, Beans, Indomine Noodles, Blankets, Treated Mosquito nets, Plastic Buckets, Salt, Bathing Soap, Detergents, NIMASA Vests, Bundles of Second hand Clothes, tissue paper etc.
The team visited the nine largest camps in the State, one in each of the affected Local Government Areas. In all the camps visited the Local Council Chairmen and other officials were on hand to receive the delegation.
The Local Government Areas visited include: Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Ogbaru, Onitsha South, Onitsha North, Anambra East, Anambra West, Awka North and Anyamelum. Officials of the Committee on the flood disaster pledged their commitment to ensure that the relief materials are equitably distributed.
The victims who were full of joy and happiness for the relief materials also appealed to NIMASA to help them in the post flood period by providing seedling for the next farming season.
