The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has alerted members of the public about the existence of a fake social media message about the agency’s none-existing scholarship scheme
In a statement sent to Shipping Position Daily yesterday and signed by its deputy director public relations; Hajia Lami Tumaka, NIMASA disclosed that its attention has just been drawn to “recent publications in the social media entitled “2014/2015 NIMASA scholarship form finally out”.

In a statement sent to Shipping Position Daily yesterday and signed by its deputy director public relations; Hajia Lami Tumaka, NIMASA disclosed that its attention has just been drawn to “recent publications in the social media entitled “2014/2015 NIMASA scholarship form finally out”.
The agency also gave the telephone numbers attached to the fake online adverts as 08052873989, 07064847811, even as it dissociated itself from the scam.
“It has therefore become imperative to state that this information is NOT from NIMASA.
Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard such information concerning any scholarship by NIMASA, which is clearly the handiwork of scammers”, the statement added.
It also informed that NIMASA has also been inundated with calls by well-meaning Nigerian about the genuineness of the ‘advert’.
