In a bid to foster inter-agency collaboration and enhance maritime security, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos Seaports/Marine Command, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Headquarters on Monday.
Leading the delegation, Command Comptroller Clementina Ogbudu emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between the NIS and NSC to improve service delivery and ensure a safe and efficient maritime business environment. She noted that closer cooperation between both agencies would help streamline operations at the nation’s ports.
Responding to the visit, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the NSC, Akutah Pius Ukeyima, reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to promoting efficiency in maritime trade. He highlighted the need for inter-agency collaboration to eliminate operational bottlenecks and ensure seamless port activities.
Ukeyima also recognized the crucial role of the NIS in regulating immigration activities at the ports, stressing that sustained cooperation would help achieve shared objectives in maritime security and trade facilitation.
The visit marks another step in strengthening institutional partnerships aimed at boosting Nigeria’s maritime sector efficiency.
