Alhaji Aminu Musa-Yusuf, the Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, has described the present administration’s port reform process as a pathway towards excellence.
This is contained in a press statement signed by the institute’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr Paul Mshelizah, which was made available to reporters in Zaria.
The release quoted Musa-Yusuf as speaking at a combined closing of three different courses held at the institute in Zaria.

The courses were Forklift Operations and Safety Management; Port Operations Management; Advanced Transport Planning and Strategic Management.
The D-G observed that the policy had given hope of better and improved services in the ports sub-sector, which would boost its contribution to national growth.
Musa-Yusuf called on Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s policy initiatives in that regard to achieve the set goals and objectives.
“The country’s ports have, over the years, been characterised by series of bottlenecks such as congestion of cargoes, insecurity and excessive charges.
“Others are unnecessary delay in clearing goods and services, poor work ethics, corruption and bureaucratic bottlenecks.
“These practices have affected the efficiency and development of the ports.’’
Musa-Yusuf urged the participants to work assiduously towards ensuring international best practices and standards.
This, according him, will not only improve port services but also increase the volume of international trade and project Nigeria’s image abroad.
