NSC’s Head of Complaints Unit; Bashir Ambi-Mohammed, Bags PhD in Communication

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has once again celebrated one of its distinguished directors, Dr. Bashir Alhassan Ambi-Mohammed, for his recent academic milestone.

 

Dr. Ambi, who serves as the Head of the Complaints Unit at the NSC, has earned a Doctorate (PhD) in Mass Communication from Lead City University, Ibadan, solidifying his reputation as a consummate professional in communication and maritime affairs.

 

Dr. Ambi-Mohammed’s academic journey reflects his dedication to excellence and professional development. His educational achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri, a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Lagos State University, and another Master’s in International Transport from Cardiff University, UK. This recent PhD crowns decades of intellectual pursuit and commitment to knowledge acquisition.

 

Dr. Ambi has had an illustrious career spanning over two decades at the NSC. Joining the council in 2000 as a Public Relations Officer, he has held key positions, including Personal Assistant to board chairmen and Maritime Officer in the Consumer Affairs Department. His exemplary service has positioned him as a key player in resolving maritime complaints and enhancing the council’s operations.

 

Beyond his NSC responsibilities, Dr. Ambi has contributed immensely to professional and cooperative organizations. He is the General Secretary of the Lagos State branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-Nigeria). During his tenure as General Secretary of the NSC Staff Cooperative, he oversaw a remarkable financial growth of the cooperative’s fund from ₦30.4 million in 2007 to ₦420.6 million in 2021.

 

A man of many accolades, Dr. Ambi-Mohammed has received numerous awards, including the NSC ACTU/ICPC Integrity Award and the CILT International President’s Award. His dedication to transparency, integrity, and professional excellence has made him a respected figure in the maritime and public relations sectors.

 

Dr. Bashir Ambi-Mohammed’s academic and professional accomplishments underscore his unwavering commitment to excellence and his drive to contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s maritime sector. His recent PhD achievement serves as an inspiration to colleagues and young professionals striving to make a difference in their fields.
