The command’s Public Relations Officer; Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) , Abubukar Usman, in a statement signed and sent to Shipping Position Daily in Lagos, yesterday said that the figure surpassed that of August 2013 with N505,787,068.53

According to him, the figure shows a progressive revenue collection of the command with a difference of N166,422,584.47, even as he added that it is the first of its kind in the history of the Ogun state command of the service,
The Command in August, 2014 made a total of 143 seizures with Duty Paid Value of N144,301,372.00 as against 93 seizures with DPV of N47,382,156.00 recorded same period in 2013.
Usman noted that "it shows a progressive seizure difference of 50 seizures with DPV of N96,919,216.00.
He added that some of the seizures include:5,531 bags rice, 67 used vehicles and 1,258 cartons frozen poultry products which according to him, has been destroyed through burning.
Other items seized are 10 motorcycles, 25 sacks of indian hemp, bales of second hand clothing,125 kegs of PMS,
1,480Cartridges of live ammunition concealed in 15 bags of rice.
The imagemaker further said that "the formidable mechanism put in place by the Customs Area Controller comptroller. Haruna, Mahmoud to curtail the menace of smuggling in the area lead to the successes recorded so far "
However,he said that the Command is not relenting in its revenue drive and anti-smuggling campaigns to meet its expected targets.
