Participants at last week’s training programme for freight forwarders have said that such workshop can hold so as to further expose practitioners to modern professional procedures.
The well-attended programme was organised by Concerned Accredited Freight Forwarders Association (CAFFA) in conjunction with Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN).
The workshop was also endorsed by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), held in Lagos.
The one day professional on-line Services and operational tracking and administrative training programme was designed to better the lot of practitioners in freight forwarding practice in Nigeria.
The well-attended workshop had members of four freight forwarding associations in attendance, they which include: NAGAFF, NAFFAC, AREFFN and NCMDLCA.
Speaking with Shipping Position Daily on the side line of the workshop, Deputy President ,Air Logistics of National Association of government Approved Freight forwarders (NAGAFF), Mr. Oluwole Adeyemi called on the facilitators of the workshop to embark on a quarterly training programme for the Nigerian freight forwarders, adding that “I have been an advocate of training and re-training of practitioners”
“Today’s programme is coming at a time when we needed it most and we want it to be a consistent programme which can hold per quarter, because anybody that is not trained cannot be current and may not know what is obtainable in the industry”, he added.
He noted that as a freight forwarding practitioner, there is need to get additional knowledge for the business.
The NAGAFF chieftain added that training should be either local or international, adding that it will create more avenue for better performance.
Adeyemi also said that constant training of the practitioners will further accelerate easy clearance of goods out of the Nigerian air, sea ports and land border.
Also speaking with our correspondent, Chairman, Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN), Tin Can Island, Comrade Jude Ige maintained that the workshop was highly educative.
He said “It was fantastic and unique, and I will also appreciate and encourage the organisers for more of such type of training for freight forwarders.”
Another member from AREFFN; Mr. Ishola Temitope added that the programme has impacted positively on him, pointing out that tracking of consignment can make freight forwarding to be more convenient and fast.
He also lauded the organisers for putting in place measures to enlighten and educate freight forwarders in Nigeria.
