Products Bridging: PEF Goes Public With Payments

The Petroleum Equalisation Fund has said that it will soon publish  the list of all payments that it has  so far made to marketers in respect of bridging products across the country.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mrs Adefunke Kasali who was represented at the interview  by its  head of public and government relations, Mr Goddy Nnadi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that it has already received approval from all relevant authourities to publish the payments.
Justifying the proposed action, she explained that “the publication of payments is, of course, to confirm  disbursement of funds and their receipts, because when you announce that you have made some payments, marketers do not believe that you actually made them. “We think that now, for every payment we make, we publish names of the marketers, how much they were paid, the banks they were paid into and the time the money hit the account, so that anybody who is in doubt, could confirm,” Kasali said.
The PEF scribe stressed that it “is part of the Federal Government’s drive to enthrone transparency and accountability and ensure that petroleum products marketers get up-to-date payments due to them from their various transactions”.
She explained further that apart from publishing in national dailies, the agency will also post details of the payments on its web site. “We are going backwards to the time we introduced e-payment till date. For the past two years and even in the current one, all of the disbursements will be published on the net,” Kasali said.
She disclosed that “PEF has already “communicated this approval we received to IPMAN. Its National President was here last week and we mentioned it to him. We have written them officially. We have also communicated the new development to major marketers in a meeting we had with them under the aegis of MOMAN and we have also written them formally.
“We have also written to DAPPMA operators in Lagos, so that every payment we make henceforth will be published. We will be open to every body and it will also help the marketers to confirm when their payments have gone into their accounts.”
