The Port and Terminal Multi-Service Ltd. (PTML) command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said yesterday that it collected N44.8 billion in first half of this year.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Steve Okonmah, made this known in an interview in Lagos.
Okonmah said that the revenue collected during the period indicated an increase of N11 billion or 32.5 per cent from N33.8 billion generated in the corresponding period in 2013.

“The command witnessed a little setback in our revenue drive in February as a result of the auto policy of the Federal Government and the general slide in trading activities worldwide,” he explained.
He also disclosed that the command impounded two containers of vegetable oil and a third one laden with arms and ammunitions.
He said that the contrabands and one person suspected to be connected with the items had been handed over to the police.

Okonmah added that during the period, the command also seized one truck and two buses, including one that contained military camouflage uniforms and kits.
He stated that the vehicles and content were handed over to the Directorate of Military Intelligence.

“There has been harmony and cordial relationship among stakeholders, terminal operators and the officers of the command.

“This has strengthened the inter-agency cooperation which has remained the vital tool in the success story of the PTML Customs command,” he said.
