The Ports and Terminal Multi-services Ltd Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at Tin-Can Island, Lagos, said it collected N7.9 billion in November.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Steve Okonmah, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, said the figure was an improvement over the N6.8 billion the command recorded in October.
He said that the improvement in revenue was a result of the man-management style of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Alhaji Dikko Abdullahi.

According to him,“In October, we made N6,861, 931,669 and in November there was a remarkable improvement, we made N7, 994, 875,159.
“The secret is just two things. One, officers worked relentlessly to make sure that we upped the antenna.
“Like the comptroller-general too, he has a target and every officer, because of the way he has carried his officers with happiness, all the officers met and vowed with him as said that they must assist him to meet that target.
“That was the first thing that accounted for the increase.
“The second one, when the yuletide is coming like this, importation is always on the increase and that is the situation. There is an increase in importation and that accounted for this too.
“The role of Comptroller Folorunso Adegoke in this increase cannot be over looked because as the Area Controller, within this month alone, he held meeting with officers more than 10 times.
“All in an effort to encourage them, to ginger them and possibly shake the ones that feels there is need for him to shake for us to have ourselves focused.“

The breakdown showed that N5.6 billion was raked into the Federation Account, while N2.3 billion was collected into the Non-Federation Account.
Import duty fetched N5.1 billion; Fees (N18.2 million) and Common External Tariffs (N480.3 million), while 7 per cent surcharge was N359.3 million.
Value Added Tax (VAT) fetched N1.5 billion and the sum of N161.8 million was realised from 0.5 per cent ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS).
The command recorded N244.5 million from one per cent Comprehensive Import Supervision Scheme (CISS) and generated N204,154 from Iron Levy.
