The Ports and Terminal Multiservice Limited (PTML) command of the Nigeria Custom Service said that total revenue collected in  2012 stood at N71,267,589,007.00 as against the N51,264,053,039.00 the command raked-in in 2011.
Image maker of the command, Mr. Steve Okonmah in a press statement made available to Shipping Position Daily in Lagos yesterday stated that the revenue figure is an increase of N20, 003,535,698.00 (or about  39% increase over the figure  it collected in 2011.
Analysing the figure futher, Okonmah said that a total of N43.83Billion went into the federation account while N27.43Billion  went into the non-federation account.
In the area of anti-smuggling, the command said that a total of 18 seizures were made throughout last year. "A breakdown shows that eight of the containers were 40ft while seven were 20ft containers. Also a total of three vehicles were seized", he stated.
According to him, two out of the 40ft containers were carrying fake drugs and these have been handed over to NAFDAC, while  three out of the 20ft containers  contained pirated books and these were promptly handed over to the National Copyright Commission.
Okonmah further stated that the foregoing successes were recorded due to the regular meetings between the management of the command and the stakeholders operating in the area as well as the smooth and healthy relationship it maintained with the other sister agencies.
"The command had its share of ups and down, however, the leadership skills of the controller, Comptroller Zakari Jibrin and determination on the part of the highly motivated officers steered the ship back on course", he affirmed.
He added that, while promising an improvement in the revenue drive of the command as well as its renewed  commitment to anti-smuggling activities, the Comptroller of the command, Mr. Jibrin warned that tough times awaits fraudulent importers in 2013.
