The House of Representatives has mandated the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) to investigate the leasing of Oil Mining Lease 30 (OML30) to Heritage Oil.
The committee is expected to report back to the House within three weeks.
This resolution emanated from a motion moved by Rep. Yusuf Tajudeen (PDP-Kogi), which was unanimously adopted without debate on Tuesday.
According to Tajudeen, the lease to the oil company in November 2012 is located in the Western part of Niger Delta.

According to Tajudeen, the lease to the oil company in November 2012 is located in the Western part of Niger Delta.
He said that the lease to the company, owned by a British national, in November 2012, did not take into consideration the interest of Nigerians on how their commonwealth was being managed.
The legislator said that Nigeria's involvement with a company owned by an individual whose business ethics was recognised all over the world, would raise doubts about its quest for development.
He said that there would be security threat in the Niger Delta when the company commenced operations in the area.
He said that OML30, being one of the largest gas fields was strategic to Nigeria's programme on infrastructure.
