The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has acknowledged officers for exceptional service delivery in 2023, along with stakeholders and government agencies operating within the Seme Border.
The event, which provided a platform for networking and interaction, took place in Badagry, Lagos, on Friday, 11 January 2024.
Speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Timi Bomodi, emphasized the importance of the get-together, as officers and stakeholders have put in their best to ensure the government’s expectations are met.
He stressed that the event aligns with the Work-life balance initiative of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
He said, “The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, encourages us to have a work-life balance. Throughout the year 2023, the officers and men, and indeed all stakeholders in Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, put in their best to ensure that we not only meet the expectations of the government but have, in my estimation, done tremendously well, surpassing our target by almost 300 percent.”
“And so, we have to take our time to celebrate our successes and also to take stock, recognizing those who have made a very big impact in our success story. And by that, we mean not just Customs Officers, but all other stakeholders who have collaborated with us throughout the year, and it has manifested in numerous seizures, the provision of necessary intelligence, and so on,” he emphasized.
Comptroller Bomodi commended the community for their support in the previous year while also soliciting more cooperation in the current year.
Chairman Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Joseph Gbenu, commended the NCS for the initiative of the get-together, stressing that the synergy and cooperation between Customs and the community will lead to the development of the Badagry Community.
Awards were presented to representatives of sister agencies who assisted the Service in Anti-Smuggling operations and trade facilitation.
Other awards for officers include; Best Officer in Seizure of Rice, drugs, pharmaceuticals, and Operations, Best Officer for Punctuality, and Best Dressed Officer.
A recipient of the award, Assistant Superintendent of Customs II Kennedy Eneh, appreciated the Area Controller for his support, stressing that the award will challenge other officers to do their best.
He further extended gratitude to CGC for his exemplary leadership style.
