The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has said that it is rallying maritime stakeholders to a one-day meeting on the operations of the Kaduna Dry Port.
The meeting which is expected to focus on the processes of documentation of the Kaduna bound cargoes, obligations of terminal operators and shipping companies would hold January 25th 2018 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Confirming the meeting tour correspondent last weekend , the Executive Secretary of the Council, Mr Hassan Bello confirmed that the meeting is a follow-up on the recent commissioning of the Kaduna Dry Port by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added that the meeting will be attended by the Nigerian Ports Authourity, the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Railway Corporation, shipping companies/agents, terminal operators and operators of the dry ports.
According to him, the essence is for all stakeholders in the dry ports business to sit down and fashion out how to have a smooth and transparent dry port operations in Nigeria.
The meeting is expected to equally look at the expected roles of other stakeholders in ensuring the smooth operations of the facility and how best to successfully operationalize the Kaduna Dry Port.
The Inland Ports being facilitated by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council is an intermodal terminal directly connected by road or rail to a seaport and operating as a centre for the shipment of the cargoes to inland destination.
The Kaduna Dry Port is a 5000 TEU facility located on the Kachia Road in Kaduna.
