The Nigerian shippers Council branch of the senior staff association of communication, transport and corporations (SSACTAC) has reshuffled its leadership team which has until now served for a tenure of three years, paving way for a newly infused executives.
The election of the emerged branch executive team was the high point of the associations’ fourth triennial delegates’ conference tagged ‘Akure 2010’ which held in Ondo state recently.
The occasion had in attendance the President General of SSACTAC Comrade Lasisi Adesunkanmi who in his speech acknowledged the branch’s effort in achieving good and improved welfare packages for its members for the last nine years of active unionism which has also resulted in the progress of the NSC and its productive workforce. In his words “the NSC branch had been a good partner in progress with the management, hence we have been able to avoid situations that would have degenerated into crisis’’ he said.
Adesunkanmi also charged the newly elected officers to always apply doggedness and dynamism in steering the ship of the NSC branch and that they must always ensure that they continue to lift the banner of SSACTAC aloft in the Nigerian Shippers council.
He however identified that there are outstanding demands which has been forwarded by the association but is yet to be granted by the Shippers Council, according to him “we are aware that there are still some outstanding labour issues awaiting the action of the management. We believe the management through our indefatigable executive secretary will address them in the shortest possible time”
The newly elected branch president Comrade Moses Fadipe who also doubles as the national treasurer of SSACTAC was reelected along with his four other executives after serving a three years tenure at the branch. The new executives include comrade N.E Ugwu as vice president, Ado Baikie as secretary, J.A Sarumi as treasurer, J. Agboola assistant secretary, M.C Ogbonna labour adviser among others.
In his speech, Comrade Fadipe admitted that though his last three years in office has been challenging, but the association through its executives was able to handle the affairs with maturity which has made it fulfilling, particularly he acknowledged the Shippers council boss Captain Adamu Biu for creating an enabling environment for the association to operate.
Fadipe in his words states that “I hereby express my appreciation to the executive members for their solid support throughout the period of my leadership. It has not been easy but when you have men and women of honor and integrity who love and cherish our collective endeavors to sustain the gains of the association coupled with good family support, then the sky becomes the stepping stone for the discharge of ones duties” he said.
