President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd.) as the new Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service. He replaces Dr. John Atte who was acting Comptroller General for only one week.

The new Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Ali holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Criminology. He was military administrator of Kaduna State from 1996 to 1998.

In a statement released by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina yesterday, the president has also approved five other positions, key among which is Engr. Babachir David Lawal as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The statement said the president also appointed Alhaji Abba Kyari as his Chief of Staff; Mr. Kure Abeshi as the new Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service.
It would be recalled that it stated that the president also appointed Sen. Ita S. Enang as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) while Hon. Suleiman A. Kawu is the new SSA to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
According to the statement, the appointments are with effect from August 27th 2015
