Stakeholders operating at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) in Ijora, Lagos have commended the customs controller of the command; Mrs Frances Enwereuzor for her innovation  by putting in place a taskforce for the sole aim of addressing traffic gridlock on the roads leading tothe terminal.

Barely four months of her deployment to the command, operators have made a strong case for the federal government to finding lasting solution to the menace of traffic  gridlock even as an alarm was also raised by customs, saying that the traffic gridlock has hampered  clearance of goods from the terminal and even revenue collection.

The taskforce comprising, the KLT command of customs and  police, NUPENG, Julius Berger, etc has so far cleared the entrance to  KLT phase one even as operators have continued to expressed satisfaction and appreciation to the controller of the command, Mrs. Frances Enwereuzor for the  innovation.

Chairman , Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) at KLT; Aloy Anokoru stated that apart from the gridlock which has been addressed by the controller, there has been free flow of goods out of  the KLT.

He said, "before now, the bridge was a no go area until the new controller came to the rescue which I will say is a laudable idea".

According to him, the controller has a cordial human relationship for the freight agents at KLT and that agents have not experienced such robust romance with the customs for a very long while.

"The controller has taken the bull by the horn in so many cases, even the challenges faced at the command has been addressed by her".

Also speaking to our correspondent in Lagos, Divisional Police Officer of KLT Phase one, DSP Akpole Evoh said the controller went to the extent of providing raincoats and other accessories to ensure that the road connecting the terminal is cleared from traffic.

DSP Akpole Evoh appealed to stakeholders to continue to assist the Nigeria Police to enhance its operations within the community.

He said that as the head of the taskforce, stakeholders have confirmed their efficiency and effectiveness of the taskforce.

"The taskforce, set up in the month of June by the Customs Area Controller, KLT Command ,Comptroller Frances Enwereuzor, has received tremendous commendations by stakeholders and port users operating from KLT.",he stated.
